Oingt
Perched in the southern Beaujolais, 30 minutes from Lyon, Oingt is the only village in the Rhône department to have been awarded the "Most Beautiful Villages of France" label.
It is on the occasion of a walk that the discovery of the village allows to plunge immediately into the history thanks to the lanes with evocative names.
A fortress from the Middle Ages, the seigneury of Oingt is said to be the oldest in the region. Until the 19th century, the houses were united by the same ochre limestone rock used for the construction: the golden stone.
Oingt, in the heart of the Pierres Dorées villages, is an essential stop on the wine route.
