Mont Brouilly
Overlooking the Saône and Dombes plains, the Mont Brouilly hill and its chapel offer everyone a break on the Beaujolais Wine Route to enjoy a unique 360° panorama.
With its vine-covered slopes, the Mont Brouilly hill is recognisable among all others, but it is also distinguished by the particularity of its soil composed of blue rock of volcanic origin. It is this particularity that gives this exceptional terroir to the Brouilly and Côte-de-Brouilly appellation wines. Culminating at an altitude of 484 metres, this remarkable highlight of the Beaujolais landscape, the emblem of the region, has the Notre-Dame-des-Raisins Chapel at its summit, built in 1854 to protect the vineyards from bad weather and disease. The Mont Brouilly hill also offers the most motivated visitors interpretation trails to reach the summit, and sporting events (car rally, mountain bike, etc.). The curious will find a geoscope, the emblematic site of the Beaujolais Geopark, to quench their thirst for knowledge and astronomy enthusiasts will find the best spot in the region for observing the stars. Families can enjoy the place for a picnic before going back down in the middle of the pine forests.
